Hand physiotherapy
Your hands are one of the most important tools you use to shape and interpret your life. In all daily activities for self-care, work, sports and hobbies, you need your hands
What is hand therapy?
Hand therapy is specialised physiotherapy treatment of hand, wrist, forearm and/or elbow complaints. A hand therapist is a physiotherapist who has completed advanced training in hand and wrist complaints after completing their physiotherapy training. This makes the hand therapist specialised in the treatment of the hand and wrist.
The hand therapist specialises in:
- Joint complaints such as wrist pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatism and skier's thumb.
- Rehabilitation after bone fracture or surgery.
- Tendon and ligament injuries, such as Quervain or trigger finger.
- Complaints due to pinched nerves, such as carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Complaints due to fusion, such as dupuytren's.
Both adults and children can see the hand therapist.
